Inside College Hockey 2007-08 Preseason
All-America Teams

Inside College Hockey is proud to announce its 2007-08 Preseason All-America teams. While the American Hockey Coaches Association chooses its All-America teams on an East and West basis, we prefer to see college hockey as a national game – thus our first-, second- and third-team All-Americans, plus our All-Rookie Team, are not divided on regional lines.

The selections were made by Inside College Hockey editors and staff, with input from media and coaches from around the country.

PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA FIRST TEAM

Nathan Davis

Miami
Senior
Forward

2006-07: 42 GP, 21-29—50

A returning Hobey Baker finalist will once again be a top candidate for the most significant individual award in the sport. His well-rounded game and leadership will help the RedHawks' entire team, and that success will lead to individual accolades.

Ryan Duncan
North Dakota
Junior
Forward

2006-07: 43 GP, 31-26—57

Some saw the Hobey winner as a beneficiary of his linemates last season. With he and T.J. Oshie teaming up again, there's no reason they both can't be first-team All-Americans.

T.J. Oshie
North Dakota
Junior
Forward

2006-07: 43 GP, 17-35—52

The Fighting Sioux's playmaker, Oshie led the team in assists and was great late, with 34 points in the last 20 games of the season. He led all scorers in the NCAA Tournament with eight points.

Taylor Chorney
North Dakota
Junior
Defenseman

2006-07: 39 GP, 8-23—31

Chorney was the best all-around player on a talented Sioux blue line last year. Expect his minutes and responsibilities to increase even more as a junior.

Matt Gilroy
Boston University
Junior
Defenseman

2006-07: 39 GP, 9-17—26

The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder can make his presence felt in all three zones of the ice. He's a solid defenseman for Boston University's excellent unit, and he also scored nine goals and 17 assists last season, good for fourth on the team in points.

Jeff Lerg
Michigan State
Junior
Goaltender

2006-07: 26-13-3, 2.41 GAA, .913 sv. pct.

In a pretty even crop of goaltenders, we consider Lerg to be more of a Gabe Gauthier type than a Thomas Vanek type. There are probably more technically sound or physically talented goalies, and many have better numbers, but Lerg's the guy we want in a big game.

We select our Preseason All-Rookie Team with a slightly different approach than our Recruiting Rankings, which are based on talent and potential impact over four years. Here we measure potential impact just as freshmen.
