Inside College Hockey 2003 All-America Teams

Inside College Hockey is proud to announce its 2003 All-America teams. While the coaches choose their All-America teams on an East and West basis, we prefer to see college hockey as a national game – thus our first-, second- and third-team All-Americans, plus our All-Rookie Team, are not divided on regional lines.

These players did separate themselves from their peers during the course of the 2002-03 season. The selections were made by Inside College Hockey editors and staff, with input from media and coaches from around the country.

INSIDE COLLEGE HOCKEY
2003 ALL-AMERICA FIRST TEAM
Ben Eaves
Boston College
Junior
Forward
Statistics: 36 GP, 18-39—57
He posted impressive offensive totals, but what sets him apart was the way he carried the Eagles with his production and leadership during trying times, such as when his brother, Patrick, was sidelined by injury.
Chris Kunitz
Ferris State
Senior
Forward
Statistics: 42 GP, 35-44—79
Bob Daniels calls him the most complete player in the nation, and he may be right. Kunitz is a solid two-way forward, a tenacious penalty killer, is versatile enough to play the point on the power play or work along the half boards and can score by utilizing his speed, skill or grit.
Peter Sejna
Colorado College
Junior
Forward
Statistics: 42 GP, 36-46—82
The nation's leading scorer and one of the three members of the Hobey Hat Trick. Had a point in all but one of the Tigers' games this season and a big reason CC was among the nation's top-ranked team the majority of the year. Creative offensively with and without the puck, he's also a suprisingly effective penalty killer.
John-Michael Liles
Michigan State
Senior
Defenseman
Statistics: 39 GP, 16-34—50
The Spartans narrowly missed an NCAA Tournament berth, but they wouldn't have been a .500 team without Liles. A silky-smooth skater and a demon on the power play, coach Rick Comley said he improved defensively as the season progressed. He's not a bone-jarring blueliner, but he can hold his own in front of the net and is rarely caught out of position.
Tom Preissing
Colorado College
Senior
Defenseman
Statistics: 42 GP, 23-29—52
Came into the season with 16 career goals. He tallied 17 this season...on the power play. His offensive prowess further enhanced the stature of a player who had always been a top-notch defensive defenseman. Preissing was lethal from the top of the face-off circle when the Tigers had the extra man; he's also a good skater and plays smart.
Dave LeNeveu
Cornell
Sophomore
Goaltender

Statistics: 28-2-1, 1.14 GAA, .942 sv. pct.
The numbers speak for themselves. He's broken a few of Ken Dryden's records at Cornell, but his style of play is more reminiscent of Ryan Miller in that he's capabale of making the flashy save, but he's so good at playing angles that he rarely has to. LeNeveu is an economical goaltender – he's very good at squaring his body to the shooter and letting the puck hit him.
