ECACHL
Coaches, Media Tab Cornell As Favorite
Cornell is
the team to beat in the ECAC Hockey League. As defending league
and playoff champions that bit of news hardly comes as a surprise,
but the overwhelming margin by which Cornell was selected to repeat
both titles is certainly noteworthy.

The Big Red
received every first-place vote by 21 media members and all 11
first-place votes by the coaches. A coach does not rank his own
team in the poll, and Dartmouth received the number-one vote from
Mike Schafer.
Following
Cornell in the top four of the media poll were Colgate, Dartmouth,
and Harvard. Just 10 points separated the Raiders (197) and the
Crimson. St. Lawrence was picked fifth by the media, followed
by Brown, Clarkson, Union and Rensselaer, Princeton, Yale and
Quinnipiac.
In the coaches
poll, Dartmouth was picked second by just one point over Harvard.
St. Lawrence was fourth and Colgate was fifth. Positions six through
12 were Brown, Clarkson, Union, Rensselaer, Princeton, Yale and
Quinnipiac.
The Big Red
were also prominently honored in the All-League teams. Returning
All-Americans Dave McKee and Matt Moulson were unanimous selections.
Joining Moulson at forward were Colgate’s Jon Smyth and
St. Lawrence’s T.J. Trevelyan. A fourth forward was named
in the media poll – Dartmouth’s Mike Ouellette. St.
Lawrence’s Mike Madill and Dartmouth’s Grant Lewis
were the all-league defensemen.
