The 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship runs from Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta. The Russians are the defending champions, beating Canada in the title game. The U.S. team won the bronze, the first time the Americans medaled in back-to-back WJCs.

Finland Former BU forward Charlie Coyle was the only player with college ties to earn a point in the U.S. loss; he assisted on the Americans' lone goal.

Czech Republic Notre Dame's T.J. Tynan and Boston College's Bill Arnold scored for the U.S., but the Czechs scored three third-period goals to bounce the Americans from the medal consideration.

Canada Jason Zucker scored for the United States, who rallied from a 3-0 deficit to close to within one goal in the third period.

Latvia Minnesota's Nick Bjugstad had a hat trick for the United States in its biggest win since opening the tournament against Denmark.

vs. Switzerland
Miami forward Austin Czarnik and St. Cloud State defenseman Kevin Gravel scored goals as the United States topped Switzerland to close out the tourney.

TEAM USA ROSTER

Seven returnees from the team that won the bronze medal at last year's World Junior Championship in Buffalo highlight the 22-man U.S. roster for the 2012 WJC. The group includes seven representatives of WCHA schools, four players from the CCHA and Hockey East, and one from ECAC Hockey.

TEAM CANADA SCHEDULE

Canada, which lost to the Russians in the 2011 World Junior Championships in Buffalo, has just one collegian on its roster, but it's an important one. Colorado College forward Jaden Schwartz is also the captain for the Canadians.
