Key Statistics: Prewitt
has finished second in team goal scoring in each of
his first three seasons, posting 11 tallies as a freshman,
13 as a sophomore and 15 as a junior. His 32 points
led Bentley last season, and he produced points in 24
of 36 games. Known for producing clutch goals, Prewitt
has four game-winners, 11 power play tallies and five
short-handed tallies – his man-down goal in the
closing minutes of a 2006 quarterfinal with Army allowed
the Falcons to eventually win in double-overtime. He
heads into his final collegiate season with 39 goals
and 45 assists. He led the Fargo-Moorhead Jets in scoring
with 52 points (21 goals) in 2004-05 when he was named
a North American Hockey League all-star.
What He Does: Bentley
coach Ryan Soderquist says Prewitt has two speeds: fast
and "oh my God, he just blew past me." That
elusiveness makes Prewitt a scoring threat at any time.
Prewitt uses his 5-foot-11 frame well and is a good,
strong skater.
The Bigger Picture: Prewitt
finished the season playing with center Anthony Canzoneri
and winger Jeff Gumaer, and all three return for this
season. Soderquist believes this is the season where
Prewitt can top 40 points and be more consistent as
a goal scorer – that should open some eyes for
pro scouts.
Bentley defenseman Casey Russell
on his roommate, Prewitt: "He has flashes
like that where you just can't believe his moves. He
was our most consistent scorer last year and always
seemed to score the goals when we really needed them.
He does things offensively that you just can't really
describe, he's that good."
