Key Statistics: Rogers
finished the 2007-08 season second on Harvard in scoring
with 13 goals, 19 assists, and 32 points. That backed
up a solid freshman campaign during which he tallied
24 points, also good for second on the team.
What He Does: He's a
heady offensive player who has a nose for the net and
gets in on Harvard's scoring chances. Rogers is also
Harvard's best face-off man, winning draws at a 60.7
percent clip. He got hot at the end of the season, recording
at least one point in 14 of the Crimson's last 18 games,
and 23 points in that stretch.
The Bigger Picture: Coincidentally,
when Rogers' scoring pace picked up the Crimson charged
toward the end of the season, going 11-4-1 over the
last 16 games. If not for a rough stretch through the
months of December and January, Harvard probably would
have made the NCAA Tournament. Consistency throughout
the year – from Rogers and the rest of the team
– is one of the keys to the Crimson ending a two-year
NCAA drought.
Harvard head coach Ted Donato
on Rogers' upside: "I expect Doug Rogers
to be one of the premier players in college hockey.
He has always been able to put up points, but his overall
contributions will make him a premier player."
