Key Statistics: Scrivens
played 90 percent of the team's minutes in net and started
35 of Cornell's 36 games. He finished the year with
a .930 save percentage and 2.02 goals-against average.
What He Does: His numbers
were even better in league play, in both save percentage
(.932) and goals-against average (1.88). Scrivens ranked
second in both categories in ECAC Hockey contests behind
only Harvard's Kyle Richter. He also had four shutouts
on the year.
The Bigger Picture: Scrivens
was Cornell's clear number-one goalie as a sophomore
and kept the job with strong play throughout the season.
As a freshman he played second fiddle to Troy Davenport,
but will enter this season as the incumbent starter
between the pipes. Davenport returns for his senior
season and incoming freshman Michael Garman led the
Nanaimo Clippers of the British Columbia Hockey League
to a regular-season title last year.
