ROB NOLAN
Michigan Tech

His Statistics: 2 GP, 2-0-0, 59 saves, 3 GA

His Impact: Jamie Russell and his Huskies had history on their minds in Grand Forks last weekend. Well, recent history anyway. Neither the head coach nor any members of the team had ever experienced a victory against North Dakota — Russell was 0-for-12 in three-plus seasons behind the Tech bench, a run of futility that started when this year's seniors were freshmen.

Nolan, like Russell, had suffered through the indignity of the oh-fer. In 2005-06, he played in 17 games, starting 13, and won none, while losing 11 and twice earning ties. In backstopping the Huskies to a sweep of the host Fighting Sioux last weekend, Nolan improved his record this season to 5-4-1 to go along with a nifty 2.13 GAA and a .912 save percentage. He nearly earned a shutout Friday, yielding only Brad Miller's extra-attacker goal with less than 90 seconds left in a 3-1 win, then made 30 saves in Saturday's 3-2 series finale.

His Runners-Up: Joe Fallon, Vermont; Mike Taylor, Harvard; Mario Valery-Trabucco, Union; Blaine Jarvis, Bemidji State; Jordan Wakefield, Mercyhurst.
