Caledon East, Ontario
DAVE
WILSON
Maine
His
Statistics: 2 GP, 63 shots, 1 GA, 1 SHO in
the Black Bears' sweep of Vermont in Orono.
His
Impact: Did anyone outside of the Pine Tree
State envision Wilson — a freshman goalie with
less than 90 minutes of college experience, all in relief
of starter Ben Bishop — standing up to the test
of facing Vermont in the middle series of a six-game
stretch likely to determine Maine's postseason fate?
If you did, empty your bank accounts and hop on the
next flight to Vegas.
Wilson
was more than just capable in place of Bishop, who was
sidelined with a wonky groin. He was terrific, making
32 shots in the Black Bears' 5-1 win over the visiting
Catamounts Friday, and turning aside all 31 shots he
faced in a 1-0 shutout Saturday.
His
Runners-Up: Ryan Cruthers, Robert Morris; Eric
Giosa, Sacred Heart; Jeff Lerg, Michigan State; Alex
Petizian, St. Lawrence; Jonathan Toews, North Dakota
