MICHAEL
KENNEDY
Cornell
His Statistics: 2 GP, 3-3—6,
1 PPG, +2
His Impact: The first half of the
season was one of fits and starts for Cornell. The Big
Red opened the year with losses to RIT and Princeton,
then beat Quinnipiac, Yale, and Brown. That three-game
win streak, however, gave way to a 1-3-2 stretch.
And while it's too early to tell whether last weekend's
sweep of Niagara at Lynah Rink will serve as a launching
pad for a big second half for Cornell, it's safe to
say Kennedy — he of the 14 points in 65 career
games coming into the season — will likely play
a big part in the team's success.
Kennedy, whose younger brother, Patrick, is a freshman
forward for the Big Red, picked up three goals and three
assists in the back-to-back wins over the Purple Eagles.
He extended both his goal and point streak to four games
(he has 5-3—8 during that span) and has nine points
in his last six games dating back to Cornell's Thanksgiving
weekend match against Boston University at Madison Square
Garden.
His Runners-Up: Richard Bachman (Colorado
College), Ryan Cruthers (Robert Morris), Michael Ratchuk
(Michigan State), Brennan Sarazin (RIT), Joe Vitale
(Northeastern)
