Inside College Hockey Podcasts
Inside College Hockey got its start
when a few of our staffers decided to put some of
our conversations about college hockey into written
words. Now you're able to listen in on those chats
via the weekly INCH Podcast. In February 2007, USA
Hockey Magazine rated the INCH Podcast third
on its list of the five essential hockey podcasts.

The month of June concluded with lots of
college hockey news, so as the calendar turned to
July, INCH staffers congregated for another INCH Podcast.
This edition includes discussion on WCHA expansion,
what it means for the CCHA, coaching changes, the
NHL Draft and NHL free agency. So whether you are
celebrating Canada Day or Independence Day, make time
for the INCH Podcast on this holiday weekend.

Here at Inside College Hockey, we, like the
Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff, sit back
and unwind in the summertime. Of course, there are
times when hockey intervenes, forcing us to spring
to action. What better way to get you caught up on
all things puck-related, then, with an extended INCH
Podcast — we touch on the hiring of Dean Blais
at Nebraska-Omaha, a job opening at Brown, some NHL
Draft chatter, and all the extras you've come to love.

Saying this edition of the INCH Podcast is
a wide-ranging journey is like saying U.S. automakers
are having issues with cash flow. In spite of all
the sidebars, detours, tangents, backtracking, and
premature deterioration, our panel of experts manage
to touch on the highs and lows of last weekend's NCAA
regionals and take a preliminary look at the upcoming
Frozen Four.

Every year just prior to the start of the
NCAA Tournament, INCH has conducted its Wish List
Draft, which allows each of the 16 qualifiers to select
two players from teams whose seasons have ended. It’s
a way to recognize excellent performers from non-playoff
teams, and highlight strengths and weaknesses of teams
playing in regionals this weekend. We take the Wish
List Draft to another level this year by conducting
it “live” via the INCH Podcast. Enjoy!

INCH Podcast breaks down each of the four regionals
in great detail, plus gets you caught up on items
you may have missed during last weekend’s conference
tournaments and touches on the 10 finalists for this
year’s Hobey Baker Award. We even throw in our
Frozen Four picks to boot.

Five automatic bids are up for grabs this
weekend in conference tournaments across the nation,
and the slate of games on tap are intriguing —
there’s a Hockey East semifinal showdown between
Boston College and Boston University, the top four
seeds squaring off in ECAC Hockey’s finale,
and a potential Minnesota-North Dakota semifinal in
the WCHA, just to name a few. In this edition of the
Inside College Hockey Podcast, we sort through what
promises to be an exciting few days.

Lots of ground to cover in this week’s
INCH Podcast. Three leagues start postseason play
this weekend, while three others wrap up their regular
seasons. We’ll look at some of the playoff permutations
in Hockey East and the WCHA, focus on the top four
in ECAC Hockey, and debate whether Boston University
and Notre Dame can be beaten. We’ll also debut
our new show open … and we’re proud to
announce that the INCH Podcast remains 100% Jimmy

Our apologies: the INCH Podcast has been
away for a while due to circumstances beyond our control.
Actually, the circumstances were sort of in our control,
but we’re splitting hairs. The bottom line is
that the INCH Podcast, like Gen. Douglas MacArthur,
has returned with plenty to discuss, including a seemingly
invincible Boston University team, the top-heavy CCHA,
the strange WCHA title chase, and Yale’s surprising
season. And, yes, it wouldn’t be a podcast without
a dollop of deterioration at the end.

With the remnants of the Michigan-Michigan
State and Denver-North Dakota series still lingering,
it seemed appropriate to discuss the events of the
past weekend while still fresh in our minds. The result
is this INCH Podcast on the heels of what was one

recent memory.

The INCH Podcast is back and goes coast-to-coast
with conversations on emerging and submerging teams
in college hockey. How legit are BU and Cornell? What

We cover it all, plus some presidential deterioration.

Like old friends at a class reunion, we have
a lot of catching up to do. Granted, we're not talking
about a period of years here, but the holiday season
is a busy one, and it's likely that you didn't catch
all the significant moments that took place in college
hockey. That's where this installment of the Inside
College Hockey Podcast comes in; we'll get you up
to speed in time for the second half of the season,
and throw in a little deterioration to boot.

The full grip of winter is starting to strengthen
across the nation, but that has not hurt some notable
college hockey programs that have been red-hot lately.
The latest edition of the INCH Podcast talks about
what Notre Dame, Mercyhurst, Wisconsin and Alaska
(among others) have done to be successful in recent
weeks. Of course, other discussion makes its way into
our deterioration and the participants mention likes
and dislikes of cities they have visited.

USA Hockey announced the roster Wednesday for the
upcoming World Junior Championships. What better way
to break down this year's squad, assess its chances
for a top-three finish, and examine the impact the
picks could have on college hockey than with a special

and Mike Eidelbes hit on all the high points in this
lean, mean discussion.

You're gonna eat your fair share during the long Thanksgiving
weekend, right? Here at Inside College Hockey, we're
happy to supplement your holiday bounty with an epic
INCH Podcast that dissects what should be an interesting

non-conference matches, including unbeaten, untied
Air Force taking on Front Range foes Colorado College
and Denver.

Election Day is behind us, but the guys at Inside
College Hockey are fascinated by the candidates —
for the 2009 Hobey Baker Award. In this installment
of the INCH Podcast, we talk about the military man
(Air Force’s Lamoureux), the guys making their
second runs at the big prize (Michigan State’s
Lerg, Princeton’s Jubinville), and the Biden-like
veterans who’ve come, gone, and come again (Minnesota's
Stoa, BC’s Bradford). No need to pick sides;
where we come from, red and blue are colors of lines
on the rink.

The Inside College Hockey Podcast returns with an
in-depth discussion on the shootout. It has made its
debut in the CCHA; other college hockey power brokers
say it's just a matter of time before everyone is
doing it. But does that make it the best way to settle
ties after 65 minutes of play? The INCH staff discusses
the pros and cons of the shootout, and salutes teams
off to a fast start out of the game.

You've been clamoring for it, and we're happy to report
that the Inside College Hockey Podcast is back for
the 2008-09 season. In our debut installment, we touch
on a variety of topics including injuries on the Michigan
blue line, lost weekends on the East Coast for North
Dakota and Wisconsin, and an encouraging start for
Denver. There is also deterioration of surprisingly
high quality at the end, most of it hockey related.

We’ll level with you — we here at INCH
move a little slower in the summer. But after nearly
eight months of non-stop college hockey news and information,
can you blame us for taking a few weeks to recharge
the batteries? We’ve still got a couple weeks
before our psuedo-hiatus ends, but we cranked it up
briefly for the recent NHL Entry Draft in Ottawa.
That event is the centerpiece of the first Inside
College Hockey podcast of the summer, which also recaps
early departures, looks back at our early glance at
the top 10 teams for 2009, and, of course, closes
with plenty of deterioration.

first off, congratulations to Boston College for winning
the 2008 NCAA championship. Second, the Inside College
Hockey podcast discusses all things Denver, including
the Frozen Four, the Hobey Baker Award presentation,
and the job the Mile High City did as the event host.
And for all you deterioration-only listeners, you'll

Four automatic bids are up for grabs this weekend
as conference tournaments in Albany, Boston, Detroit,
and St. Paul conclude Saturday. We discuss the games,
and the ramifications for those involved, in this
edition of the Inside College Hockey podcast. Our
panel also breaks down its 10 Hobey Baker Award finalists,
and talks about the highlight-reel penalty shot goal
scored by BC’s Nathan Gerbe. We also learn how
many pages one must flip through to get to actual

As you’ll hear very early in this edition of
the Inside College Hockey podcast, the week ahead
is the one we consider the best of the entire season.
All six leagues are in playoff mode — most notably
Atlantic Hockey and College Hockey America, as both
determine their NCAA tournament representatives Sunday.
We break down all the postseason action in great detail,
yet still find time to take Coast Guard to task for
its questionable choice of mascot and send best birthday
wishes to the indestructible Chuck Norris.

The Inside College Hockey Podcast returns with what
we think is one of the finest efforts in the history
of our little Internet chat. Of course, given the
subject matter — Friday’s disputed Wisconsin-Denver
game, the uncertain future of Minnesota goalie Jeff
Frazee, the legitimacy of Michigan’s No. 1 ranking,
and the potential cracks in the facades of Hockey
East upstarts UMass, UMass Lowell, and Northeastern
— even we couldn’t screw this one up.

Perhaps the better question regarding the most recent
edition of the Inside College Hockey podcast is what
don’t we talk about? This time around,
we compare the CCHA to the WCHA and discuss the dominance
of the former (be it real or perceived), break down
the starts of Hockey East powers Maine and Boston
College, and touch on a strong opening for Princeton.
All this, plus an APB for Elisha Cuthbert.

contract situations afforded to NHL clubs who draft
college-bound players, and the probable induction
