Denver
So. | G | Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia

His Statistics: 2 GP, 2-0-0, 67 saves, 2 GA

His Impact: He’s not the most famous hockey player hailing from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia — that would be a certain no. 87 who currently skates for the Pittsburgh Penguins — but Cheverie was just as important to the Pioneers’ success against Colgate and Air Force this past weekend as Sid the Kid was in the Pens’ two wins last week.

Since being pulled from a 5-1 loss to Minnesota at Magness Arena on Nov. 21, Cheverie has been virtually unbeatable. After shutting out the Golden Gophers to hand them their first loss of the season, Cheverie stopped 29 shots in Friday’s win against visiting Colgate, then made 38 saves Saturday — 31 of them in the final two periods — as DU gave Air Force its first blemish of the 2008-09 season.

His Runners-Up: Scott Campbell, UMass Lowell; Matt Dalton, Bemidji State; Calle Ridderwall, Notre Dame; Mario Valery-Trabucco, Union; Ryan Zapolski, Mercyhurst
