Merrimack beat New Hampshire, 4-3, Saturday at the Whittemore Center, which marked the Warriors’ first win in Durham since Dec. 13, 2003, and improved their all-time record at the Whitt to 3-22-2. What’s more, before that victory, Merrimack had been 2-35-5 against UNH since 1995.

Just when the league started to pick up a little steam, we’ve come to December, a month that features seven - count ‘em, seven - Hockey East contests.

GREAT WEEKEND GETAWAY

Boston College at Boston University, Friday

Like any other game really had a chance. The best rivalry in Hockey East recommences this weekend with a home-and-home beginning Friday at BU. You’d be hard pressed to find more talent on one sheet of ice all season, as the Eagles and Terriers have landed a few stacked recruiting classes over the last couple years, and each team has shown flashes of scoring brilliance in 2008. Boston College showcased some rare dominance in the rivalry last season, going 3-0-1 against Boston University. The last time these two teams met, BC skated away with a 4-3 overtime win in the first round of the Beanpot.
