Michigan
So. | G | Highland, Mich.
His Statistics: 2 GP, 43 saves, 1 goal allowed, 2 wins, 1 shutout
His Impact: The emergence of Bryan Hogan as Michigan’s no. 1 goaltender has been one of the more surprising revelations of the 2008-09 to date. The Highland, Mich., native, who made all of five starts as a freshman while backing up Billy Sauer, backstopped the Wolverines to an impressive sweep of visiting Miami this past weekend. Hogan stopped all but one of the 26 shots he faced in a 5-1 win over the RedHawks Saturday, then turned aside 18 shots in Sunday’s 4-0 triumph to earn his first career shutout.
The Wolverines have won six in a row, and Hogan has been the goalie of record in each of those games. He enters the week eighth in the nation with a 1.75 goals against average, and his .925 save percentage ranks 18th in the country.
His Runners-Up: Jason Gregoire, North Dakota; Brennan Sarazin, RIT; Matt Sweazy, Alabama-Huntsville; Brad Thiessen, Northeastern; Jason Walters, Union
