
Blake Geoffrion has scored 28 goals in 39 games for the Badgers
Wisconsin senior forward Blake Geoffrion, the nation’s second-leading goal scorer, was named the 2010 Hobey Baker Memorial Award recipient, the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation announced Friday at the NCAA Frozen Four in Detroit. Geoffrion is Wisconsin’s first-ever Hobey Baker award winner.
Geoffrion edged out New Hampshire’s Bobby Butler and Maine’s Gustav Nyquist – the other “Hobey Hat Trick” finalists – for the award.
Geoffrion has scored a team-leading 28 goals in 39 games and ranks fourth on the Badgers with 50 points. His 15 power-play goals are the most in the nation.
The Brentwood, Tenn., native has seven goals and 13 points in seven postseason games. He was named the NCAA West Regional Most Outstanding Player and a member of the WCHA Final Five All-Tournament Team. Geoffrion also took home the INCH’s National Player of the Year laurel.
Geoffrion looks to lead the Badgers to their seventh NCAA title when Wisconsin (28-10-4) takes on Boston College (28-10-3) in the national championship game on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT. The game will air live on ESPN.
Also Friday the American Hockey Coaches’ Association introduced its All-America teams, which featured three Denver players and two Cornell players on the first teams:
