Danny Biega

Key Statistics: Biega led Harvard in scoring with 30 points on 11 goals and 19 assists. He ranked first among all defensemen in ECAC Hockey in league scoring.

His Impact: It’s impossible not to notice Biega when you watch the Crimson. He makes an impact in all situations and is on the ice as much as any player in the country. His point totals are significant, but he’s not a purely offensive-oriented player. Biega is also the team’s best defensive defenseman and can play a physical game that complements his skill.

The Bigger Picture: The A-Z series is designed to let you know about some emerging players that we expect to have big seasons, not necessarily the established stars in college hockey. Forgive us for bending that criteria a little bit. Biega is one of the top players in college hockey, but still meets the A-Z format because not a lot of people know about him. He was just a second-team pick in ECAC Hockey and was left off of the AHCA All-American teams (but not neglected by INCH).

Biega’s physical capacity is something that Ted Donato raves about, and the coach isn’t afraid to lean heavily on the defenseman. His strength and fitness allow him to play a ton of minutes, and Harvard uses Biega in all situations.

Harvard coach Ted Donato on Biega’s impact around the Crimson: “He’s a leader by example. He’s not a real rah-rah type guy but he earns a high level of respect from his teammates.”
