Here at Inside College Hockey, we, like the Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff, sit back and unwind in the summertime. Of course, there are times when hockey intervenes, forcing us to spring to action. What better way to get you caught up on all things puck-related, then, with an extended INCH Podcast — we touch on the hiring of Dean Blais at Nebraska-Omaha, a job opening at Brown, some NHL Draft chatter, and all the extras you’ve come to love.

Saying this edition of the INCH Podcast is a wide-ranging journey is like saying U.S. automakers are having issues with cash flow. In spite of all the sidebars, detours, tangents, backtracking, and premature deterioration, our panel of experts manage to touch on the highs and lows of last weekend’s NCAA regionals and take a preliminary look at the upcoming Frozen Four.

Every year just prior to the start of the NCAA Tournament, InsideCollegeHockey.com has conducted its Wish List Draft, which allows each of the 16 qualifiers to select two players from teams whose seasons have ended. It’s a way to recognize excellent performers from non-playoff teams, and highlight strengths and weaknesses of teams playing in regionals this weekend. We take the Wish List Draft to another level this year by conducting it “live” via the INCH Podcast. Enjoy!

Lots of ground to cover in this week’s INCH Podcast. Three leagues start postseason play this weekend, while three others wrap up their regular seasons. We’ll look at some of the playoff permutations in Hockey East and the WCHA, focus on the top four in ECAC Hockey, and debate whether Boston University and Notre Dame can be beaten. We’ll also debut our new show open … and we’re proud to announce that the INCH Podcast remains 100% Jimmy Fallon-free.

Our apologies: the INCH Podcast has been away for a while due to circumstances beyond our control. Actually, the circumstances were sort of in our control, but we’re splitting hairs. The bottom line is that the INCH Podcast, like Gen. Douglas MacArthur, has returned with plenty to discuss, including a seemingly invincible Boston University team, the top-heavy CCHA, the strange WCHA title chase, and Yale’s surprising season. And, yes, it wouldn’t be a podcast without a dollop of deterioration at the end.

With the remnants of the Michigan-Michigan State and Denver-North Dakota series still lingering, it seemed appropriate to discuss the events of the past weekend while still fresh in our minds. The result is this INCH Podcast on the heels of what was one of the most outlandish college hockey weekends in recent memory.
