Lots of ground to cover in this week’s INCH Podcast. Three leagues start postseason play this weekend, while three others wrap up their regular seasons. We’ll look at some of the playoff permutations in Hockey East and the WCHA, focus on the top four in ECAC Hockey, and debate whether Boston University and Notre Dame can be beaten. We’ll also debut our new show open … and we’re proud to announce that the INCH Podcast remains 100% Jimmy Fallon-free.

Our apologies: the INCH Podcast has been away for a while due to circumstances beyond our control. Actually, the circumstances were sort of in our control, but we’re splitting hairs. The bottom line is that the INCH Podcast, like Gen. Douglas MacArthur, has returned with plenty to discuss, including a seemingly invincible Boston University team, the top-heavy CCHA, the strange WCHA title chase, and Yale’s surprising season. And, yes, it wouldn’t be a podcast without a dollop of deterioration at the end.

With the remnants of the Michigan-Michigan State and Denver-North Dakota series still lingering, it seemed appropriate to discuss the events of the past weekend while still fresh in our minds. The result is this INCH Podcast on the heels of what was one of the most outlandish college hockey weekends in recent memory.

The full grip of winter is starting to strengthen across the nation, but that has not hurt some notable college hockey programs that have been red-hot lately. The latest edition of the INCH Podcast talks about what Notre Dame, Mercyhurst, Wisconsin and Alaska (among others) have done to be successful in recent weeks. Of course, other discussion makes its way into our deterioration and the participants mention likes and dislikes of cities they have visited.

Here at Inside College Hockey, we’re happy to supplement your holiday bounty with an epic INCH Podcast that dissects what should be an interesting weekend of action. Most intriguing are the bevy of non-conference matches, including unbeaten, untied Air Force taking on Front Range foes Colorado College and Denver. It’s a veritable feast of college hockey talk; you’ll want to save room for deterioration, however.

Election Day is behind us, but the guys at Inside College Hockey are fascinated by the candidates — for the 2009 Hobey Baker Award. In this installment of the INCH Podcast, we talk about the military man (Air Force’s Lamoureux), the guys making their second runs at the big prize (Michigan State’s Lerg, Princeton’s Jubinville), and the Biden-like veterans who’ve come, gone, and come again (Stoa of Minnesota and BC’s Bradford). No need to pick sides; where we come from, red and blue are colors of lines on the rink.
