Six of our top nine teams suffered losses as we tore January off our calendars – but not No. 1, as Colorado College has staked a strong claim to the top spot. Big winners elsewhere were New Hampshire, which very nearly took three out of four points from Maine, and Minnesota State, Mankato, which moved into second in the WCHA. Read on to find out how we think the top teams stack up, then check out INCH 4x4 to see where you might be watching your favorite team in the NCAA Regionals.

Here's how the Inside College Hockey editors and staff ranks the nation's top teams. As always, you can let us know what you think.

1. Colorado College

Any questions?

2. Maine Black Bears pull out win in game two vs. UNH, and head back to Alfond for six of their last eight.
3. New Hampshire 3 Six seconds from taking three out of four points from Maine.
4. North Dakota 1 Tallied first three goals of series against CC, then were outscored 9-1 the rest of the way.
5. Michigan 1 A power play unit of Tambellini, Shouneyia, Ortmeyer, Nystrom and Helminen can make up for a shorthanded defense.
6. Boston College 1 Who does Ben Eaves think he is, Dany Heatley?
7. Cornell 3 Dear teammates, please score more goals for me. Sincerely, Dave LeNeveu.
8. Minnesota Going from Alaska Anchorage to Colorado College is like going from TV Guide to the New Yorker.
9. Ferris State Michigan series was called the biggest in Bulldog history. At least until they clinch the CCHA title later this month.
10. Denver Best Wisconsin players at Magness Arena last weekend were behind the benches (Gwozdecky and Eaves).
11. Ohio State In other Ohio hockey news, the AHL’s Cleveland Barons have introduced a nine-woman dance squad, the ZamBunnies.
12. Harvard Crimson's win over Brown shakes off rust, gives them hopes for a happy Beanpot.
13. Minnesota State, Mankato 3 How high would the Mavs be ranked if they were 16-7-5 instead of 12-7-9?
14. Boston University 1 If the Terriers are going to start playing consistently, everyone knows it will happen over the next two weeks.
15. Michigan State 1 Not nearly as bad as their early season woes would indicate, but probably not quite as good as their recent seven-game unbeaten streak.
16. Miami NR Two weeks to prepare for crucial two-game series with Ohio State.
