North Dakota strengthened its hold on No. 1 to the tune of 14-4 at Denver. Elsewhere, headed into a huge week of non-conference games, we got a preview of how important those games can be. Ohio State and Rensselaer each jumped this week thanks to non-league victories, while St. Cloud State and Cornell took tumbles.

Here's how the Inside College Hockey editors and staff ranks the nation's top teams. You can let us know what you think and we'll share your thoughts below.

1. North Dakota Can the Fighting Sioux's scoring line be stopped? You know the one: Prpich, Genoway and Stafford.
9-2-0 (5-1-0 WCHA). LAST WEEK: W at Denver, 8-2; W at Denver, 6-2. THIS WEEK: Off.
2. Boston College Voce's hat trick was terrific, but the play of freshman Brian Boyle was the story vs. Providence.
7-2-3 (4-0-2 Hockey East). LAST WEEK: T vs. Merrimack, 3-3 ot; W vs. Providence, 7-4. THIS WEEK: vs. Dartmouth, vs. Northeastern.
3. New Hampshire 1 Freshmen scored three goals in each game in sweep of Northeastern.
8-2-1 (5-1-1 Hockey East). LAST WEEK: W at Northeastern, 3-2; W vs. Northeastern, 5-2. THIS WEEK: vs. UMass Lowell, vs. Rensselaer.
4. Maine 1 Not too many games are decided by two-on-none breaks, and even fewer where a d-man gets the goal, as Prestin Ryan did vs. Providence.
10-2-1 (5-2-1 Hockey East). LAST WEEK: T at Massachusetts, 1-1 ot; W at Providence, 3-2. THIS WEEK: Off.
5. Colorado College 2 Wins, losses and ties secondary to the health of assistant coach Norm Bazin.
6-1-3 (3-1-2 WCHA). LAST WEEK: T at Wisconsin, 2-2 ot; T at Wisconsin, 2-2 ot. THIS WEEK: vs. Air Force, vs. Findlay.
6. Michigan Who'dve thunk the most intriguing Showcase match-up would be Wolverines-Badgers?
9-3-0 (4-3-0 CCHA). LAST WEEK: Off. THIS WEEK: vs. Wisconsin, vs. Minnesota (College Hockey Showcase).
7. Massachusetts 2 Gabe Winer stopped just about everything, including a Colin Shields penalty shot, in Friday night's tie.
8-2-1 (5-2-1 Hockey East). LAST WEEK: T vs. Maine, 1-1 ot. THIS WEEK: vs. Vermont, at Nebraska-Omaha, at Nebraska-Omaha.
8. St. Cloud State 5 Huskies outshot Rensselaer 67-44. Engineers outscored SCSU 5-3. Think RPI goaltender Nathan Marsters earned his keep this weekend?
8-3-1 (6-1-1 WCHA). LAST WEEK: L at Rensselaer, 3-2; L at Rensselaer, 2-1. THIS WEEK: vs. Alaska Anchorage, vs. Alaska Anchorage.
9. Brown 3 Bears are the favorite for a change in Mayor's Cup game against Providence on Tuesday.
4-1-0 (4-1-0 ECAC). LAST WEEK: Off. THIS WEEK: at Providence (Mayor's Cup), vs. Clarkson, vs. St. Lawrence.
10. Dartmouth 3 Line shuffling yields 13 goals as offense carries Big Green to pair of conference wins. They can really prove themselves with games at BC, BU and Maine before the holidays.
4-0-3 (3-0-3 ECAC) LAST WEEK: W at Yale, 9-4; W at Princeton, 6-3. THIS WEEK: at Boston College, at Boston University.
11. Ohio State 3 Figured out how to win on Friday, while continuing string of Saturday triumphs.
10-5-0 (7-3-0 CCHA). LAST WEEK: W at Colgate, 2-1; W at Cornell, 4-3. THIS WEEK: at Bowling Green.
12. Denver 4 Pioneers can regroup this weekend against Air Force and Findlay. You know, the teams that beat Miami and Michigan State earlier this year.
7-4-1 (3-4-1 WCHA). LAST WEEK: L vs. North Dakota, 8-2; L vs. North Dakota, 6-2. THIS WEEK: vs. Findlay, at Air Force.
13. Notre Dame 4 A goal with less than two minutes in regulation kept the Irish from sweeping Lake Superior State.
6-3-2 (5-3-2 CCHA). LAST WEEK: W vs. Lake Superior State, 5-3; T vs. Lake Superior State, 2-2 ot. THIS WEEK: vs. Northern Michigan, vs. Northern Michigan.
14. Wisconsin 4 Badgers are on a roll (unbeaten in eight) ... but what will happen when the team is dismantled for the World Junior Championships?
6-3-3 (3-2-3 WCHA). LAST WEEK: T vs. Colorado College, 2-2 ot; T vs. Colorado College, 2-2 ot. THIS WEEK: at Michigan, at Michigan State (College Hockey Showcase).
15. Cornell 5 The Big Red is 0-2-2 versus CCHA teams this year, and all four games were at Lynah.
3-2-3 (3-0-1 ECAC). LAST WEEK: T vs. Bowling Green, 1-1 ot; L vs. Ohio State, 4-3. THIS WEEK: vs. Mercyhurst.
16. Michigan State 1 With losses to Findlay and Wayne State this year, the Spartans are 2-3-0 against CHA teams at Munn in the last two seasons.
8-5-1 (6-3-1 CCHA). LAST WEEK: L vs. Wayne State, 3-2 ot; W vs. Wayne State, 7-2. THIS WEEK: vs. Minnesota, vs. Wisconsin (College Hockey Showcase).
17. Rensselaer NR Weekend sweep of St. Cloud State validates RPI as ECAC's biggest surprise thus far.
6-3-2 (2-1-1 ECAC). LAST WEEK: W vs. St. Cloud State, 3-2; W vs. St. Cloud State, 2-1. THIS WEEK: at UMass Lowell, at New Hampshire.
18. Holy Cross 2 It's a safe bet that Paul Pearl isn't looking at the Milton Academy program and wondering, "What if?"
8-3-1 (8-0-1 Atlantic Hockey). LAST WEEK: W at Connecticut, 4-2; W vs. Sacred Heart, 6-5 ot. THIS WEEK: vs. Sacred Heart.
19. Harvard Will Tuesday's game against BU determine an at-large bid to the NCAAs?
2-2-1 (2-2-1 ECAC). LAST WEEK: Off. THIS WEEK: vs. Boston University, vs. St. Lawrence, vs. Clarkson.
20. Boston University 9 Terriers, at 1-3-2 in their last six, look to right the ship against three Ivy foes.
3-3-3 (2-2-2 Hockey East). LAST WEEK: L vs. UMass Lowell, 3-1; T at UMass Lowell, 3-3 ot. THIS WEEK: vs. Harvard, vs. Dartmouth, vs. Yale.
