Need a recipe for a new No. 1? Why not trot out the Fighting Irish against Boston College, since Notre Dame has upset the top-ranked Eagles two years in a row now. The rest of the rankings got shuffled as well as we near the end of the season's first month.

Here's how the Inside College Hockey editors and staff rank the nation's top teams (along with movement since last week and a note).

1. Minnesota Duluth 1 If scoring more goals than any other team (29) wasn't enough, the Bulldog goalies also have a .933 save percentage.
5-0-1 (4-0-0 WCHA). LAST WEEK: W vs. Minnesota State, 8-3; W vs. Minnesota State, 4-1. THIS WEEK: vs. Vermont, vs. Vermont.
2. Boston College 1 Eagle football may have Notre Dame's number, but this is back-to-back losses to the Irish on the ice.
2-1-0 (1-0-0 Hockey East). LAST WEEK: W at UMass Lowell, 3-2; L at Notre Dame, 3-2. THIS WEEK: vs. North Dakota.
3. Wisconsin 1 Joe Pavelski and Robbie Earl seem to be getting along nicely – the linemates combined for eight points against Michigan Tech.
4-0-0 (2-0-0 WCHA). LAST WEEK: W vs. Michigan Tech, 7-3; W vs. Michigan Tech, 3-0. THIS WEEK: vs. Denver, vs. Denver.
4. North Dakota 1 The Sioux could've easily lost two last weekend if not for Jordan Parise's 38-save effort in Friday's 4-2 win.
4-1-1 (2-1-1 WCHA). LAST WEEK: W vs. Minnesota, 4-2; L vs. Minnesota, 6-0. THIS WEEK: at Boston College, at Northeastern.
5. Michigan Six games in, the Wolverines have five players averaging at least a point per game.
4-1-1 (2-0-0 CCHA). LAST WEEK: W at Lake Superior State, 4-3; W vs. Lake Superior State, 5-2. THIS WEEK: vs. Ferris State, at Ferris State.
6. Colorado College The Tigers have been impressive in their four wins thus far, but we'll know a little bit more about them after next weekend's series at North Dakota.
4-0-0 (0-0-0 WCHA). LAST WEEK: W at Air Force, 4-1; W vs. Quinnipiac, 7-2. THIS WEEK: Off.
7. Dartmouth 5 Big Green extends an early welcome to Quinnipiac in the ECACHL with the opener this weekend.
0-0-0 (0-0-0 ECACHL). LAST WEEK: Off. THIS WEEK: vs. Quinnipiac, vs. Connecticut.
8. Minnesota 2 In five games, Ryan Potulny has seven goals – four on the power play, one shorthanded and two game winners.
3-2-0 (1-1-0 WCHA). LAST WEEK: L at North Dakota, 4-2; W at North Dakota, 6-0. THIS WEEK: vs. Minnesota State, vs. Minnesota State.
9. New Hampshire 5 Hard to Yandle: Brian leads the nation with nine assists through five games.
3-1-1 (0-0-0 Hockey East). LAST WEEK: W vs. Mercyhurst, 5-4. THIS WEEK: Off.
10. Maine 2 Black Bears, an uncharacteristic 3-3-0 at Alfond Arena, begin their Hockey East season on the road this week.
4-3-0 (0-0-0 Hockey East). LAST WEEK: L vs. St. Lawrence, 1-0; W vs. St. Lawrence, 4-3. THIS WEEK: at Merrimack, at Boston University.
11. Denver 4 Feast or famine – Pioneers have been outscored 11-4 in two losses, but have 15-5 edge in three wins.
3-2-0 (2-0-0 WCHA). LAST WEEK: W vs. St. Cloud State, 5-2; W vs. St. Cloud State, 6-1. THIS WEEK: at Wisconsin, at Wisconsin.
12. Northern Michigan 7 Wildcats have won six of the last seven meetings against their old coach, Rick Comley at MSU.
3-1-0 (2-0-0 CCHA). LAST WEEK: W vs. Michigan State, 3-2; W vs. Michigan State, 4-1. THIS WEEK: at Notre Dame, at Notre Dame.
13. Miami 6 What better way to purge the memory of two losses against your closest rival than a 10-hour bus ride to the North Country to face St. Lawrence?
4-2-0 (2-2-0 CCHA). LAST WEEK: L at Ohio State, 9-3; L vs. Ohio State, 2-1. THIS WEEK: at St. Lawrence, at St. Lawrence.
14. Colgate 1 Raiders were four seconds away from staying unbeaten before Northeastern's overtime goal.
4-1-0 (0-0-0 ECACHL). LAST WEEK: L vs. Northeastern, 4-3 ot. THIS WEEK: vs. Sacred Heart, vs. Army.
15. Ohio State NR The Buckeyes have had 64 power play opportunities through six games. That'd be like shooting 50 free throws a night in basketball.

17. Cornell The Montreal Gazette covered Cornell's exhibition game against McGill. Think they miss the NHL up in Canada?

18. Nebraska-Omaha NR Why not us? The Mavericks are halfway to their win total of last season.

19. Michigan State 10 The football team plays Michigan this weekend, which should keep fans from focusing on the hockey team's slow start.

20. Rensselaer NR Economakos, Nick loves Emerald Nuts. And even if he doesn't, there's a promotional opportunity there.
